Puppy Policy and Application
Please review Puppy Policy prior to submitting an application.
We reserve puppies with a $500, non-refundable downpayment (unless we cannot fulfill your request). We put your name down in the order we receive down payments. If we cannot provide you with a puppy from your preferred litter within a 2-year window, your deposit will be refunded.

PURCHASING POLICY
We accept personal checks as a form of deposit and full payment; however, we do not accept checks on the day of pickup. Only Cash, Cashier’s check, or Venmo is accepted on the day of pickup. If you are a personal check, you must allow ten business days before picking up your puppy.

VISITATION POLICY
You can meet all our dogs and puppies when visiting us. We do allow visitors by appointment only. As we value your time, we hope you value ours. If you will be more than 10 minutes late for your appointment, please contact us and let us know to ensure your arrival time will still work. We DO NOT allow visitors to bring their pets to Root River Retrievers to reduce the possibility of disease, infection, viruses, and parasites.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM OUR PUPPIES
Root River Retrievers does not breed dogs meant to sit on the couch all day. Our puppies and dogs are highly active. They need age-appropriate daily exercise and mental stimulation.
They need to be taught not to jump on children as they will not magically know this. Our puppies run, jump, chew, nibble, have accidents in your house and play hard.
When applying for one of our gun-dog puppies, please keep this in mind, preparing yourself for this reality when going forward with the sale.
RRR has the right to refuse a puppy to homes that do not fit the criteria for properly raising a field-bred Golden Retriever.
RETURN POLICY
RRR has and always will stand behind every puppy we home. If for any reason, you, as the new owner, can no longer care for one of our puppies, RRR must be contacted.
No refund is guaranteed. Return situations are based on an individual basis, depending on circumstances.
Any expenses accrued after a puppy has gone home to their new owner are solely the responsibility of the new owners.
BREEDING RIGHTS
All puppies are sold on Limited Registration. At 24 months old, upon completing and passing GRCA health testing requirements, RRR will allow complete registration at no extra charge.
Under no circumstances will RRR dogs be bred prior to completed health testing, nor ever be bred purposefully to create “doodles” or any other “designer” dog.
HEALTH GUARANTEE
RRR guarantees up to 14 months old for any of the following hereditary diseases; Hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, hereditary eye, and heart disease.
RRR guarantees a lifetime warranty on our puppies for the following: Ichthyosis 1-2, Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinoses, Progressive retinal atrophy 1-2, and progressive rod-cone degeneration.
We do our utmost to prevent these diseases, but anomalies in any breeding program can occur. There is no absolute avoidance of hereditary and genetically prone diseases. Still, by ensuring parent dogs are free of these before breeding, we consider the odds in favor of good health.
